Osthi - Kalasala Gaana Review

Osthi Maamey :
Baba Sehgal, Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen Madhav
Looks like Vaali, instead of ink, has filled his pen with youthfulness. And it is failing to dry even after decades. Sample 'Osthi Maamey...' to believe us, as the veteran, in the company of young guns (music composer Thaman and singers Baba Sehgal, Ranjith, Rahul Nambiar, Naveen Madhav) has scored a perfect tune. A racy opening on the lines of such numbers in 'Dhil', 'Dhool' and 'Ghilli'. Simbu's 'kuthu' in this number is going to be a highlight.
Unnale Unnale :
Thaman S, Rita
Besides giving his best on the music front, Thaman has crooned this number too, in association with Rita. A folk number which speaks about the relationship between a young man and a woman, Yugabharathi's lyrics adds more meaning to Thaman's composition. The singer in Thaman is in full form. What starts as a folk, becomes a melody as it progresses, adding a mesmerizing feel.
Neduvaali :
Rahul Nambiar, Mahathi
A mass duet with instruments blazing on a fast track, 'Neduvaali...' will give the listeners a mood to tap their feet, if at all they are not in a mood to dance. Rahul Nambiar's power-packed rendering and Mahathi's mellifluous voice do the expected magic. Yugabharathi has liberally used words like 'damaal' and 'dumeel'. Exactly that's how the song is. Thaman rocks.
Pondatti :
Silambarasan
STR is at his best when it comes to penning lyrics that are loaded with latest lingo. After 'Loosu pennay' and 'Evandi unnai pethan', here comes the Young Superstar with 'Pondatti...' The actor has taken charge of the singing department too, which he has done with ease and elan. Thaman has broken the popular theory that only Yuvan Shankar Raja can cater to Simbu and his fans.
Kalasala :
Vijaya T Rajendar, L R Easwari
The best is perhaps reserved for the last. 'Kalasala...' the Tamil equivalent of Bollywood chartbuster 'Munni... fulfills all expectations, and even exceeds at some places. With TR and L R Easwari, the two energetic performers, crooning it at high levels, 'Kalasala...' is set to take Thaman to great heights in Kollywood. For it strikes an instant chord in the very first beat and the tempo is maintained till the very end.
